I've always loved this fugue. Tried it a few years ago and decided best to try it again sometime later, so my second go at it. I came across the most fabulous recording of it by John Holmquist which made me approach it quite differently from before.
Ponce composed this piece with a great deal of input from Segovia who in 1929 requested a grand set of variations on the Folias. Segovia outlined what techniques each variation should employ.
