Описание: Isla Holbox is an island north of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula in Quintana Roo State. This car-free island is located between the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Holbox is known for its marine life and whale sharks. If you want to swim with whale sharks, tours start during the summer months.

How To Get Here:
From Cancun Airport to Chiquila: 2 hour drive
Chiquila Ferry to Holbox: 30 min ride. Check website below for ferry times

How to get around on the Island:
We rented bikes from Holbox Bike

500 pesos = $25 USD 2 bikes for 24 hours
You can rent golf carts on the island or walk to a lot of places, there are also Taxi
services.

Tips and Things to Know Before You Go
1. Cute sandals and Nice shoes are not necessary
If it rains the roads will become very muddy. It's pretty hard to avoid since sidewalks are minimal

2. Grab Pesos BEFORE getting to the island,
There are only a couple of ATMs in Holbox - the main one above the police station can become crowded (long lines)
The second ATM we saw was out of order two separate days
You can get pesos at the Cancun Airport

3. Bug Repellent Is A MUST!
The mosquitos can be pretty bad in Holbox, especially at night by the beaches so be sure to have plenty of bug spray or mosquito repellent bands. You can purchase them on Amazon.
