The main event is an early morning Elephant Safari. Climbing aboard, we face the ethical conflict we wrestle with as conservationists: how do you balance the moral discomfort of riding an elephant with the harsh reality that tourism income is vital for the survival of the mahouts, their families, and the elephants themselves in a resource-limited nation like Nepal? We share our balanced perspective on this complex issue, discussing the elephants' crucial role post-earthquake

Perched high, we venture into the jungle, spotting the burrow of a massive Mugger Crocodile before encountering a beautiful pair of Greater One-Horned Rhinos—a mother and her baby—actively grazing! It’s a powerful reminder of Chitwan's success as a conservation success story. We also observe the natural symbiosis between rhinos, Chital deer, and even a curious wild boar.

After a fantastic birthday adventure, we embark on the long, chaotic, but beautiful drive back towards the Kathmandu Valley, ready for our next cultural deep dive.
