"You can see that navigation isn't dense in the western part with only a few vessels displayed. Obviously, that is the area of combat activity, where there is a real threat of mines as well as air strikes."

"All boat traffic was completely halted, fishermen boats included. Boats from north-western Crimea parked here with navigation forbidden. On May 18, 2022, we got permission to sail in order to collect our fishing gear that had been out in the sea since 24 February due to the special operation. We don't know what's going to happen next."

"We had 100 tons of flatfish and brill projected for 2022. And that's only a part of the whole quota for the Republic of Crimea which is 352 tons. So, the company is suffering losses, people are distressed and forced to look for another job during this time."

STORYLINE:
Ukrainian seaports remain blocked by the Russian Black Sea Fleet, crippling the country's exports of essential goods including grain and oils.
At least 70 vessels from 16 countries were in six ports on the Black Sea including Odesa, Kherson and Mykolaiv, Russian officials said on Wednesday.
Ukraine is losing millions of dollars due to the export issues while the failure to deliver agricultural products by sea has put world food security at risk.
"While we used to have about a 6,000,000 ton turnover via ports and other transportation hubs, right now, we are at 600,000-700,000 monthly," grain trader Vitaly Lavrov said.
Ukraine is one of the world’s largest exporters of wheat, corn and sunflower oil.
