Desert trail loop on the XR400 and YZ250X. Can an XR400 keep up with a newer bike? How closely?
2001 XR400, stock motor, White Bro's exhaust, upgraded fork springs, stock shock settings, oversize pegs, bar risers.
2017 YZ250X, Acerbis oversize tank, FMF GYTR Exhaust, RKTek head, Lectron carb, correct suspension springs for my weight.
Both bikes run clean, and have appropriate suspension settings for weight and riding style. I hope to do several comparisons in different terrain, the YZ will dominate in MX, no comparison needed, but what about in off-road settings? How well can the old XR compete?
