Synopsis - Ambitious but diminutive motorcycle cop John Wintergreen patrols the Arizona highways, yearning for promotion to the homicide division.
Thanks to his revelation that a supposed suicide is actually a murder, his wish is granted.

Electra Glide is nothing short of another criminally overlooked gem from my favorite decade of cinema.

The film involves a murder, but the detective story is really just background, as it is more of a character study about these cops on the fringes of the desert - some idealistic, some broken, and others morally corrupt. It is shot by famed cinematographer Conrad Hall and even resembles a western at times. The central performance by Robert Blake is really fascinating and unique, one that will stay with me for quite a while. The original trailer never steered me anywhere near this film, so I can only hope that a fresh take on it will get people looking at it in a new light. -- DM
