Powder cladding with diode lasers reduces energy and material consumption
“Laser cladding has become indispensable for us,” says Jörg Hosemann, Head of Technical Development at ADMOS Gleitlager GmbH. Hosemann and his team have adopted a new approach to coating plain bearings: to flexibly coat components with different sizes and geometries, the company is increasingly replacing traditional centrifugal or stationary casting processes with powder cladding using Laserline diode lasers. The laser-based approach has not only reduced the use of non-ferrous metals by 70 percent, but also improved energy efficiency by 90 percent.
