Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a press statement that crisis-struck Yes Bank has been under the scrutiny of Reserve Bank of India since 2017. According to reports, the loan book of Yes Bank has been on the rise even after 2017. Did the RBI not keep a tab on the dole-out of risky loans by Yes Bank? There was panic among depositors after the central bank imposed a withdrawal limit of Rs 50,000 on its account holders till April 3. Our reporters spoke to some of the customers of the bank who said they were in dire need of money and would need to draw much more than Rs 50,000. Worst-affected are business persons who receive payments in their Yes Bank current accounts and have to issue cheques to their clients. (Audio in Hindi)
