In this video we discuss how to protect or use the password protect in an excel spreadsheet or file. We go through the set up step by step showing an example of the process

To protect an excel file with a password, you start by left clicking on the file tab at the top of the spreadsheet. From here, left click on info. A new screen will appear, then left click on the protect workbook option. And a drop down box will appear, from here, left click on encrypt with password.
A pop up box will appear where you can type in the password. There are no restrictions on passwords in regards to length, characters or numbers, however passwords are case sensitive.
Once you type in the password, left click on ok, and then you will be prompted to re-enter or confirm the password and again left click on ok.
Forgotten passwords cannot be retrieved, so make sure you remember it, or write it down in a safe place.
The next time you open the file, you will see a pop up box like this, asking for the password. Type it in, then left click on ok, and the file will open.
