The red fox is a small canine. A female fox is called a vixen. The red fox has red fur and a bushy tail. It has a long, pronounced muzzle and a black nose.
Female foxes give birth to litters of about four to eight kits in a den; as many as twelve kits can be produced at a time, however.
Foxes are omnivores that eat small mammals like rabbits, also birds, fish, berries, and fruit. They are mostly nocturnal.
Red foxes have a widespread distribution in North America and can be seen in urban, suburban, and wildlife areas. They are highly adaptable to a variety of environments and are good survivors.
