Oh no! The truck won't start. Can I get it running?
Now that I think of it.. the glow plug relay might work off a 5v reference signal and that wouldn't have showed up on the setting the tester I was using was set to. It might also work off a pwm (pulse width modulated ) signal which would be milliseconds at a time that could give some sort of circuitry on there the info it needs on how long to stay on. That wouldn't show up on that tester either. I didn't ever get any sort of confirmation what type of signal I should be looking for as nobody on the interwebs had a good answer on that. The glow plug relay stays on for a specific time mainly based on the engine coolant temp sensor reading so it knows how long it needs to heat up for. If you have a faulty sensor, that can throw off the readings and cause the glow plugs to not warm up. You can try unplugging the coolant temp sensor and if it starts, there ya go. Mine was not coming on at all even on the dash and it turns out the broken plastic, engine heat, and diesel spilling in there likely fried it. Probably got deep fried like an onion ring in there.
