Montreal: Large mansion destroyed by spectacular wind driven fire 10-30-2017

At 9h pm last night a large mansion believed to be abandoned was completely destroyed by fire on Chemin Senneville in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Winds that had hit the city in a recent storm had faded away but were still very strong at the time of the fire, likely contributing to the fast spreading of the flames. Initially, drivers going eastbound on Highway 40 could see the structure on fire from the highway and were multiple to call it in to the 911 central. Upon arrival, fire crews could only conduct as much as an exterior attack due to the intensity of the blaze. Fire fighters took turn and held large water pressure hoses in hopes extinguishing the raging inferno. Flames tore through the roof fast, before gutting the entire house that collapsed bit by bit. Hours after the start of the incident, an ambulance was requested at the scene to treat a fireman with an unknown trouble. Eventually, firemen erected a safety perimeter around the house by unrolling protective tape. An SQ police car was spotted parked on the highway shoulder with lights on, likely to prevent cars from stopping to look at the impressive unfolding scene. As of 1h am this morning, crews are still on scene to extinguish the last bits of burning debris.
