• How One Black Man Defeated the KKK
LYRICS
America back in 1979
There lived an angry man who was the leader of Ku Klux Klan
And all his problems and his worries were a black men’s fault
That’s what he preached, that’s what he thought
One day he met a black reverend
Who walked towards him to shake his hand
He said: "Johnny there’s nothing you can do.
Jesus loves you and I love you too"
Don’t be afraid
Have the courage to stand up for yourself
Have the will to walk along
I know that you are strong
The next day the klan trashed his house
They called him names and wanted him to step out
The reverend on the spot saying: “Excuse me,
Halloween is four more months away!”
So the klan decided to cross the street
To set up a wooden cross to burn
As they're realising their plan the door opens again
“Here are marshmallows for your barbecue my friends.”
Don’t be afraid
Have the courage to stand up for yourself
Have the will to walk along
I know that you are strong
I guess the marshmallows couldn’t satisfy their desire
Because the next day they set the referend’s church on fire
And they called him on the phone, “you better be afraid!”
That’s what the angry man said
He said you don’t know who we are
You better don’t take it too far
“Hey hello Johnny! I’m so honoured that a man like you calls me!”, the reverend answered honestly
Don’t be afraid
Have the courage to stand up for yourself
Have the will to walk along
I know that you are strong
The angry man couldn’t hold the line
Speechless not for the first or the last time
Now it’s time to tell part, where the story took an end
Where the angry man last met the reverend
They entered the dinner where the reverent was eating
Saying: "This is a white restaurant you don’t fit in."
Pointing at the chicken on the table, the angry man said: “We’re able, to do what you do to it!”
Don’t be afraid
Have the courage to stand up for yourself
Have the will to walk along
I know that you are strong
The reverend looked at the klan
And lifted the chicken up with his hands
He kissed that chicken on the top
Their angry faces flopped
Leaving them laughing out loud
The angry man is not angry anymore
His mind has changed and he now he travels the globe
To preach gospel and love trying to bring peace
Those are the things in what he believes
Don’t be afraid
Have the courage to stand up for yourself
Have the will to walk along
I know that you are strong
Don't give in
A good sense of humor is worth gold
Use love to heal their hearts and their souls
And their souls
