T'Owd Man's Guide to St Marys

Описание: T’Owd Man comes down from his place on the wall of St Mary’s Church, Wirksworth, Derbyshire for a short tour of lead mining history and myth. Wirksworth was one of the most important lead-mining towns of Britain and the grand church was built with lead mining money. T’Owd Man is the mythical spirit of the mines and his sculpture now resides inside St Mary’s Church.

This video features T’Owd Man re-enactors Andy Pollock and Paul Taylor who introduce the character and story of T’Owd Man as well as some of the features in the church and town connected with lead mining.

St Mary’s is open daily for visitors, quiet contemplation and to visit family memorials. You can discover the church history, take a self-guided tour and have a close encounter with T’Owd Man.
