Learn how to play through a beginner jazz walking bass line. We move through a common jazz chord progression, the 1-6-2-5 or I-vi-ii-V in the key of C. To add an element of groove, place a dead note before different beats within a bar. The dead note on the bass will add percussion and feel to your standard quarter note walking bass line. Then, start adding other notes of the arpeggio, like roots and fifths, with dead notes thrown in.
