Описание: Gaius Sallustius Crispus (Sallust) wrote "Bellum Catilinae" (War of Catiline), or "De coniuratione Catilinae" (Conspiracy of Catiline) as a chronicle of the attempted overthrow of the government by the aristocrat Catiline in 63 BC. It is his first history and one of the earliest historical monographs in Latin literature.

Sallust's monograph is one of the main sources on Catiline's conspiracy, along with Cicero's Catilinarian orations.

Louis E. Lord calls it 'one of the best known and least significant episodes in Roman history' (Loeb Classical Library translation of Cicero's Catilinarian orations, Introduction, 1937).
