Hundreds of protesters blocked a highway into Nigeria’s capital of Abuja, Monday, May 24, after a series of reported kidnappings in the area.
Dozens of cargo and tanker trucks were stuck in traffic.
A police outpost in the area was vandalized and set ablaze by the protesters.
Nigeria has been plagued by kidnappings for years, with criminals largely targeting the wealthy and prominent. But recently the pool of victims taken for ransom has expanded to the vulnerable and poor. (AFP)
