Lesley Hornby, aka Twiggy, with her slim figure (thus the nickname) big eyes and short hair is the biggest and best-known model in the world here in 1967 and one of the most iconic people of the late 60’s. Her pictures are in every major fashion magazine and she is now branching out into TV, movies and even music.

In the studio today: Dick Clark reveals how the dancers are chosen for the ”Rate A Record” segments (random drawing using ticket stubs) and we see The Ross Electronics Portable AM/FM radio & phonograph make one of its first appearances as a RAR prize (though not the very first time as they were giving them out as early as March). Also, I always imagined the judges were listening and observing the dancers with rapt attention during the songs, but here we see them chatting with Dick during “Robin Hood” (Myth debunked, lol)

Our judges today are Margie Vella and Norm Mull and our scorekeeper is Lois Kreeger. Unfortunately neither of these 2 songs charted and to be fair to Twiggy, it sounds like the judges had decided that they hated her song before it even finished (Was it really as bad as a 37.5? Maybe)

Watch for Dan Snell almost get run over by a gigantic camera at the beginning of the first song. ….And tomorrow, April 30, at 2am, the “1966 Time Act” will go into effect and in most states (some opted out) the very first Daylight Savings Time will occur.
