SEC Zambia at the CEC Renewables Green Bond Milestone
SEC Zambia joined industry leaders to celebrate CEC Renewables’ record USD 96.7 million Green Bond — 129% oversubscribed — financing a 136MW solar project under the Itimpi plant’s Phase 2.
With a 15-year tenure, the bond supports CEC’s renewable energy targets of 250MW by 2025 and 750MW by 2028. This single issuance has already surpassed Zambia’s $100 million capital markets development target set for 2027, showing strong investor appetite for sustainable finance.
SEC CEO Philip K. Chitalu reaffirmed the Commission’s role in enabling transparent, trusted, and impactful investment opportunities that drive national growth.
