Woah-boy... This actually the first boss of the game and it's actually pretty tough to do a perfect run. We went in blind and didn't realize that some of the conditions are easy to miss. Plus, there's a time limit, which always adds an elementy of psychology to the challenge.
So unfortunately, we had to do it two different times. But luckily, it doesn't require you to meet all the conditions. You could split it up into various different runs if you need to. We know it's not quite the same, but do what you gotta do. In the second run, We practically go all the way to the end before taking damage. So it definitely can be done!
Let's get started...
CHAPTER 6 - THE BRAWL AT THE MALL
Complete these missions to rescue every Waddle Dee in The Brawl at the Mall:
-Slip through Gorimondo's Legs
-Defeat Gorimondo with the Sword ability
-Clear within 2:00
-Clear without taking any damage
-How to Slip through Gorimondo's Legs
This is the simplest mission of The Brawl at the Mall. Get in-between Gorimondo's legs to trigger the completion of this mission. That's it.
-Defeat Gorimondo with the Sword ability
This one is also simple - the Sword Copy Ability is available as a choice at the beginning of the stage. Pick it up and beat Gorimondo with it to complete this mission.
-Clear within 2:00
Clearing the Brawl at the Mall within 2 minutes as soon as it's unlocked is a tall order. This is much easier if you return to this stage with Evolved Copy Abilities after you start finding Blueprints in the next area, at least.
Tips to defeat Gorimondo faster, you should follow these steps:
-Use an evolved Copy Ability (see all Copy Abilities and Evolutions) that has a counter, like the evolved Meta Knight Sword or Space Ranger (*Space Ranger is a late-game ability)
-To counter, hold L and press the Left Stick to dodge in that direction. It's a quick way to dodge enemy attacks, but if you do it at the last moment, time will slow down briefly, signifying that you pulled it off correctly. If you attack right after this, your next one to three attacks (depending on the ability) will deal extra damage.
-Clear without taking any damage
The faster you take down Gorimondo, the less opportunities you have to be hit, so this will be easier if you come back later with an evolved ability. However, this is still definitely doable.
Here are all of Gorimondo's attacks and how to avoid them:
-When Gorimondo pulls an arm back like this, it's about to do a wide sweep in front of him.
You can either jump over his arm, or dodge through it by pressing L to shield and then the left stick in the direction you want to go. Sometimes, Gorimondo swipes with both arms in quick succession, so watch out.
-When Gorimondo lifts his leg, it's about to stomp down. This will damage you if you're near his foot.
The stomp will also send a shockwave out from his foot. Stay off the ground once you see him lift his foot by floating to avoid the attack, or, dodge toward the shockwave to avoid it, allowing you to get a counter off after.
-When Gorimondo jumps straight up in the air, it will perform a strong stomp attack. Avoid it the same way you avoided the stomp.
-Gorimondo occasionally jumps away from Kirby, and will then perform one of two attacks. It will either start throwing boulders, which you can avoid by running to the left or right without stopping.
Or, Gorimondo will "wind up" and perform a spin attack. Keep running and keep your distance to avoid this attack. When he finishes, he will be dizzy for a while. Take this opportunity to take him down!
