In this video from Alarm Grid, Dylan discusses what the default Installer Code for a PROA7C is and shows you what the Installer Code can do, and how to change it. The main purpose of the Installer Code is to access system programming to configure the system. The Installer Code can be used to arm the system, and if it arms the system, it can disarm the system. This facilitates testing. The Installer Code is not intended for regular, daily use.

With a traditional system, an installer comes out, configures the panel, helps the user create their own user code, tests the system, then leaves. Usually, they change the Installer Code, so that no other dealer can enter programming on the system. This also usually prevents the end-user from entering programming. In this scenario, the end-user is locked out of system administration.
Alarm Grid empowers our users to take control of their alarm system. That includes leaving the Installer Code alone. We recommend leaving this code set to the default, in this case 4112. This is because the Installer Code can't disarm the system unless it is used to arm it. So, regardless of who may know what the default Installer Code is on a system, if it is quick armed, or armed using a regular user code, it's safe from disarm by the Installer Code.
If you change your Installer Code, and then forget it, the code can be recovered or changed back to the default as long as the system is monitored. Through AlarmNet360, the code can be edited successfully by your alarm dealer.
