Amed beach refers to a long stretch of coast running from the village of Culik about 14 km eastwards, incorporating the seven villages of Amed, Jemeluk, Bunutan, Lipah, Selang, Banyuning and Aas.
Amed has a host of accommodation and dining options and has bloomed into a tourist hub in its own right. The area now provides yoga and cooking courses, fishing trips, dolphin watching, temple tours, trekking, massages, paddle boarding, freediving and more.
Amed also offers a slow pace of life, and the magnificent coastal scenery makes it the perfect place for relaxing in Bali. Amed is famous because of its volcanic black sand and magnificent view of Gunung Agung (the tallest mountain in Bali).
The easiest way to get to Amed is to hire your own transport with a driver. It takes approximately 4 hours from Denpasar to get to Amed. Also note that the district of Amed is stretched out over more than 10 km. But don’t worry, transport by local drivers is available in Amed.
Do you want to experience colorful coral, shipwrecks? Well, in Amed there are plenty of opportunities for snorkelling and free diving. Here are some popular locations and various shipwrecks you might be able to spot while in the water.
1. Liberty Wreck in Tulamben is located 150 m below the water’s surface but is easy to access.
2. Small Wooden Wreck in Lipah Beach is located only1.5m below the water’s surface.
3. Japanese Wreck in Banyuning is located 20m below the water’s surface.
