The flipped classroom is a teaching model that promotes active learning and interactive classes. Students listen to lectures or introduce themselves to new material at home, and they process the new material in the classroom. The latter can take any form, from exercises, individually or in groups, to debates and role play. After 20 years of teaching the old way, I flipped my classes two years ago and experienced a smooth transition when the coronavirus moved the courses online. I teach critical thinking, scientific writing, and I moderate the capstone projects and the PhD journal club. In this lecture, I will explain how I flipped classroom and share the opportunities and challenges.
