VA Disability and Social Security — Can Veterans Receive Both?

Описание: VA Disability and Social Security — Can Veterans Receive Both?

Yes, a veteran can collect VA disability compensation and Social Security at the same time, and neither one reduces the other. A veteran rated 70% gets $1,808.45 a month from VA, and the average Social Security retirement check is about $2,071. But two other checks that sound almost identical work the opposite way. In this Veteran Pay Guide video from VA Benefits Lab, we explain which checks stack, which ones shrink, and where veterans lose money by assuming.

We cover Social Security's own chart on VA disability and SSDI, why even a 100% VA rating does not automatically qualify you for SSDI, the 2026 substantial gainful activity line ($1,690 a month), work credits, and the expedited processing path for veterans rated 100% permanent and total. You will also learn how TDIU work rules differ from Social Security's, how military service counts toward your Social Security record, and what age 62 versus full retirement age means for your check.

Then the two places where money gets taken back: SSI, which counts your VA compensation as unearned income, and VA Pension, which counts your Social Security as income. We finish with the tax difference, a three-move plan for this week, and a warning about anyone who charges to unlock benefits you already earned.

This video is educational only and is not legal, financial, or medical advice. VA and Social Security decide your claims, and rules and rates can change, so confirm every detail with each agency. If it helped, subscribe, like, and share it with a veteran. Which check are you getting, VA, Social Security, or both? Tell us in the comments.
