Disneyland Opening Day Miscues & Mistakes

Описание: More people watched the opening day broadcast of Disneyland than viewed the moon landing (in America at least… Dateline: Disneyland had 90 million viewers and the moon landing had only 53 million). It was the largest live broadcast that had ever been attempted at the time it was filmed. Disney and ABC borrowed 29 cameras and sound systems from all over the United States in order to make it happen. ABC even pre-taped its shows in New York so the network could ship its cameras and equipment to the west. ABC borrowed technicians from rival networks CBS and NBC for the broadcast. It was a massive undertaking, including 16 miles of cable and tall perches for the cameras. 🎥

Considering the size and scope of the production, and the fact that it was pioneering in the industry, its no wonder that there were quite a few mishaps (not including all of the breakdowns and mistakes that happened beyond the broadcast in the park). But when you choose to take big risks and go where no one has gone before, it’s not always going to be smooth sailing. That doesn’t mean that it’s not worth doing, it just means you might have to stumble a little bit along the way 💜
