The last main line Steam run for 2014 to West Wales was organised by the Railway Touring Company as 'The Pembroke Coast Express', and ran from Bristol Temple Meads to Pembroke Dock via Newport, Cardiff and Carmarthen. The rostered loco was Castle Class 4-6-0 5029 Nunney Castle which powered it from Bristol to Carmarthen, with 47237 assisting at the rear. The 47 took the train to Pembroke Dock, because there are no run-round facilities available, leaving the Castle free to work the return run to Bristol.
The train departed Bristol nearly an hour late due to a problem with a Voyager at Barton Hill, but amazingly, it was on time when it passed through my home town of Pembrey & Burry Port. All clips are detailed, so sadly Main Line Steam in my area comes to an end for another year....Good to see C&A (EMUKSteam), and Justin on board, and Phil the Stonemason from the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway.
