what's the deal with ADHD and DOPAMINE? (with Jesse Meadows)

Описание: Everyone knows that ADHD is caused by a dopamine disorder, right?

Actually, not so fast.

Dopamine seems to be the latest obsession in the ADHD space. People are talking about their dopamine addictions and about going on dopamine fasts. “You would think it’s a kind of heroin that your brain makes when you enjoy things,” says Jesse Meadows in their Substack newsletter Sluggish (which you should subscribe to: https://sluggish.substack.com/).

But as is often the case, this “dopamine discourse” is frequently not grounded in evidence, is vastly oversimplified, and can convince us that we have very little agency.

In this livestream, I’ll be asking Jesse to share some of their research and critical perspectives on the ADHD dopamine discourse.
