Neck reset alternative (quiet background)

Описание: This video shows the process of a somewhat controversial guitar neck reset process, the shaving of the bridge. I have been doing this for may years with great success and I thought it might be time to share the process. Generally, it is ALWAYS better to do a proper neck reset on a guitar that has the neck pulling forward to the point where the action on the guitar is high AND the saddle is already set low. However, there are times where it does not make sense to do a neck reset, for example, on a very cheap instrument it does not make sense to do a $400 neck reset on a $200 guitar (it makes more sense to replace the guitar with another $200 one). Or sometimes the owner does not have the funds to have the neck reset done and the guitar will be thrown away otherwise. At times like these, lowering the bridge (sanding the top of the bridge), can be a good option. The process is quick and easy (compared to a neck reset) and the cost of the process is much cheaper than the neck reset. I had a fellow living on a fixed income that owned an old, loved acoustic guitar that needed a neck reset. He had no money for the pricey procedure and had visited several luthiers before he came to me. He was at the point of just hanging the guitar on the wall (because he could not afford the work) as a sad memory, so I told him that I could fix the action without the neck reset. The guitar was 40+ years old but very stable (was not going to shrink more). So I shaved down the bridge and set up the guitar with the action at 2.25mm (Low E) and 1.75mmm (High E). It played perfectly, sounded great, looked great, and best of all, the owner was over the moon happy that he had his guitar back in great playing condition.
