Based off of Book 3 Episodes 5 & 6
This is about how Lin has tried and tried to be this "perfect" child. She always tried to be the "family savior" and to make Toph happy and be everything but what Suyin was.
She learns that her mistake was trying to perfect, to only please her mother. Not being perfect was not her fault, because she never could be. She knew she grew cold and lonely because she was trying to be perfect and everything Toph perhaps wanted. The family falling a part was not because she failed to be the perfect family savior, but because she was trying to be. It's not Lin's fault that she couldn't be perfect.
This was the closest song I could find to fit it that closely. It still has some parts that don't fit, but eh, close enough!
...and I just rambled that entire time. Um. Striving for perfection is what hurt Lin. Yep. That is what all that means.
