Our Mission:
+‘Poverty’ at Person-Level is defined by The World Bank's (June 2025) ‘Global Poverty Line’ as $3.00/day or $1,098 p.a. or approximately N1.6m p.a.
+Nigeria's N70,000 p.m. or N840,000 p.a. 'Minimum Wage' is only 52.5% of The World Bank's Global Poverty Line (i.e. 47.5% or N760,000 p.a. short of the N1.6m required to stay on the Global Poverty Line so, Nigeria is effectively Institutionalising Poverty.
+At The World Bank's Global Poverty Line of $3/day or $1,098 p.a. or N1.6m p.a., Nigerians comparatively pay 7.5% ‘Effective Tax Rate’ under the 2026 Tax Reform, while most of Africa pay 0% Tax and generally enjoy far better Public Infrastructures and Services like stable electricity, roads, healthcare, education, security etc. e.g. Seychelles, South Africa, Algeria, Mauritius, Gabon, Botswana, Equatorial Guinea, Morocco, Tunisia.
+Nigeria must Re-Reform this tax Reform to De-Institutionalise Poverty, while relatively taxing significantly less than most African Nations for Higher Income Earners.
+This is disproportionate, unfair and antithetical to survival, savings, capital formation and entrepreneurship efforts by common Nigerians.
Insights on Nigeria (@insightsonnigeria) is committed to champion this discussion and public debate by presenting compelling empirical evidence across Africa and beyond - to inform future tax reviews = to support economic growth, development and social mobility.
