Car Explodes Near Moscow, Driver Killed; Putin Briefed as Investigation Gets Underway

Описание: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Wednesday that President Vladimir Putin had been briefed about a car explosion in Moscow's Balashikha region the previous day. A BMW X3 exploded while on the move on Tuesday morning in Balashikha, approximately 25 kilometres east of Moscow, killing the driver outright. Russia's Investigative Committee confirmed that an explosive device was detonated at around 5:30 AM near a residential building on Koldunovo Street. Peskov declined to disclose further details, citing an ongoing investigation, calling it a matter for Russia's special services. The explosion occurred just a block from where Russian Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a car explosion in December 2025. Since 2022, Ukrainian military intelligence has claimed responsibility for several targeted assassinations of senior Russian officers.
