Two Indian-flagged ships, including a supertanker carrying 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil, were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. The incident occurred shortly after Iran's military announced the closure of the strategic waterway.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre confirmed that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards fired on the vessels near Oman. While a container ship sustained minor damage from a projectile, all crew members are reported safe. The tankers have since reversed course to avoid further escalation.

In response, India summoned Iranian envoy Mohammad Fathali to lodge a strong protest. While New Delhi demands answers, the Ministry of External Affairs is yet to issue an official statement on the maritime crisis.
