Reason being that, even though the small block Chevy and LS share the same bellhousing bolt pattern, they have different bellhousing depths. This necessitates a change in bellhousing, and most LS swap sources are GM trucks and SUVs with automatics behind them, so the correct bellhousing needs to be sourced in the aftermarket.
