Deaths from consuming illicit alcohol in the eastern Indian state of Bihar have been on the rise since state authorities imposed a complete ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol in 2016. A black market for fake alcohol is flourishing, but the toxic concoctions have killed several hundred people since the controversial prohibition was introduced seven years ago.
