This obscure piece, presumably written by Little Brother Montgomery, appears on only one of Little Brother’s albums: These Are What I Like: The Piano Blues—Unissued Recordings Vol. 1 (Magpie Records, 1987). At the beginning of Little Brother’s recording, he says that this is what he used to play when he was a little kid. Little Brother was born in 1906, so this piece gives us a nice glimpse into what early blues piano sounded like. Though the piece is simple—it’s just a standard 12-bar blues progression—the breezy melody is such a joy!
