In this video I take you through the process or rather my process of making a cut and sew round neckline, from knitting machine, to overlocker, to hand stitching to linking machine! This technique is often called “steeking” amongst hand knitters.
It’s a fun and fast method, ideal for tricky knitting techniques, heavily textured yarns or variegating yarns where shaping a neckline on the machine with decreases or short rows, may be difficult to do or to achieve the correct shape desired.
I only show a round neckline in this video but cut & sew can be applied to all types of neckline shapes and in conjunction with different materials that you wish to combine with your work. The choice is really yours. It’s not as scary as you think and has its place in the knitting world, expanding your possibilities even further!
