Because our fresh water low point drain plug was more or less falling apart, Sharon, one of the Two Tired Teachers, decided to replace it before we were to be gone on a long trip where we would be doing mostly dry camping. We needed to be sure that the drain would hold water.

The first problem was that the drain was attached with a pinch clamp. It is all but impossible to get the pinch clamp off. Using a small screw driver, Sharon was able to work the pinch clamp off the drain.

While Sharon was replacing the drain, she decided to replace the plastic hose underneath the RV with reinforced hose. She also wanted to replace the pinch clamps with some that screw on.

When Sharon started looking for the parts she needed, she started her search at Home Depot. The smallest amount of reinforced hose they sold was 10' for around $15. Sharon needed only a couple of inches of the re-enforced hose.

She ended up at Pate's Hardware. She bought a foot of reinforced hose, three clamps, and a replacement part for the drain itself all for $8 and change.

Before Sharon could start to put the new part on, she had one more pinch clamp she had to remove. She definitely wanted to get it off without damaging the fresh water tank. With some work, she got that off. That was the hardest part of the job. The new parts went on easily.
