Using a solid-state relay (SSR) as a switch, on a pulse motor is possible. You just need to get your coil winding and magnet polarity correct.
One important point I forgot to make in the video was that the SSR switching side, the 'input' side, will only activate when it sees the negative side of the sign wave, meaning when it dips below 0 volts on the oscilloscope. This to my understanding is when the flow of electrons in the wire are moving in the right direction and are thus able to trigger the left/negative post of the 'input' side of the SSR. This also means that the wave I generated in the video was the wrong way because I don't want it triggering as the magnet enters the coil. I want it to trigger as it leaves the coil. The fix, in that case, is simply to either rotate the magnet's polarity or reverse the leads coming from the oscilloscope.
