Enjoy this scenic drive from Wellington City Centre to Te Kopahou Visitor Centre and join me on a coastal hike from the Te Kopahou Visitor Centre to Red Rocks (Pariwhero), one of Wellington’s most scenic and rugged walking tracks.
This popular route follows the dramatic south coast, offering stunning ocean views, wild landscapes, and unique Red Rock formations created by ancient volcanic activity.
The track is mostly flat and well-formed, making it suitable for walkers of most fitness levels, though weather conditions can change quickly along the coast. Keep an eye out for seals resting near the shoreline (especially in winter) and enjoy the powerful sounds of the Tasman Sea crashing against the rocks.
