It works on the ideology of TRANSFORMING a child rather than mere TRANSFER of knowledge. It teaches 21st Century Skills to its students, the skills which are real-life skills and are also mandated by CBSE to inculcate in the students. Why these skills are important for a student to learn because the dynamics of education are changing drastically in this era, from WHAT TO LEARN to HOW TO LEARN.
These skills are instilled in the students by the way of PBL (Problem-Based Learning), where the learners identify a problem, search for its solutions, evaluate each alternative and choose and implement the best one. Every subject is taught through this module. One such example is the project made by 7th Std Students in Mathematics. They want to extend their learning of Block - 16 PROFIT AND LOSS PERCENTAGES, so they have taken a real-life problem. As school provides them with a Banana every day to give them instant energy and strength. Apart from benefits, a problem arose what should be done with Banana Peels and where we should decompose it? So, they analysed and searched for the best solution to this problem and came up with various alternatives for the disposal of it. Finally, they decided to make a fertilizer out of it, which is a very nutritious food for the health of the soil. They started collecting it in the school, dried it up on the terrace, turned it into a fine powder and made saleable packets of it.
And the cherry on the cake was that they got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to present their project at the SAIFEE BURHANI BUSINESS EXPO held in JAMNAGAR from 15 to 17th January 2023 during the stay of HIS HOLINESS DR. SYEDNA MUFADDAL SAIFUDDIN T.U.S. And in the expo itself, they got multiple orders for the fertilisers. And to everyone’s surprise, one order was 5000 kg, which is quite staggering.
Here, through this method of learning, students turned a real-life problem into a profitable business.
