While the world celebrates, I heat up frozen noodles. New Year's Eve in Japan is usually about family and warmth. For me, it's just another night after overtime work.
Dinner is 151 yen (≈$1) Soba from a convenience store. The next day, I drag my tired body to the shrine for "Hatsumode" (first prayer). Surrounded by happy families, the solitude feels even louder.
This is the reality of a Japanese worker living in the grey. No party. No cheers. Just survival.
