A late comer into the genre of classical music performed electronically, Harkinson's album boasts an unusual collection performed on an unusual synth - the VCS3, or Putney. More know for sequencing, effects, and sounds, the VCS3 here is yoked to some classical music and performs well. Tracks include Beethoven, Scarlatti, Mozart (never a popular composer with the electronics)and Clementi. Unlike Tomita, Hankinson's arrangements are grounded in the music, not in the effects, so this album is closer to Wendy Carlos's work than others. Rare enough, and worth listening too, Hankinson's work shows a seriousness and musicality than other albums in this genre often lacked.
