Today we are going to focus on Philippe Starck, a french legend of interior design with thousands of design products in his vast and acclaimed curriculum!
Born in 1949, Philippe Starck only started his professional career in the interior design industry in the mid-1980’s.
Even though he was a late bloomer in the industry, Starck rapidly conquered worldwide attention and clientele due to his signature style and design statement. Starck defends that creation, whatever shape it takes, must make life better for the largest number of people possible. He believes this highly poetic, rebellious, benevolent, pragmatic and subversive duty must be born by all and present in all of his projects. Unsurprisingly, Starck is an avid advocate of the environment and a defender of clean, elegant and modern design tools and products. As a successful product designer, through the years Starck created some iconic pieces like the Sir Gio table or the Emeco Chair. Starck is also an accomplished architect, his recent projects include the Le Nuage Life and Sports Center in Montpellier, France or the Alhondiga Bilbao in Balbao, Spain. For the past years, Starck has been designing hotels all over the world, including the iconic Royalton Hotel in New York, or The Delano Hotel in Miami, in 1995.
Starck is also a famous yacht lover! He designed a stunning yacht for the late Steve Jobs. He also designed two luxury yachts for Russian industrialist Andrey Melnichenko. He also has several restaurants to his credit, he owns several restaurant in France and in the United States, but he has also designed many luxury restaurants worldwide. He’s also a writer, an artistic director, a fashion designer, an olympic medal designer and a phone designer. That’s right! He designed a smartphone for Xiomi and the medals of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
