How would the world's first 1-kilometer skyscraper look against the legendary skyline of Chicago? This third installment of the series explores the scale of the Jeddah Tower by placing it alongside the architectural icons of the city that birthed the skyscraper.
[The Connection]
It’s a homecoming of sorts: the Jeddah Tower was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS+GG), a firm deeply rooted in Chicago’s engineering legacy.
[Technical Note: Height Methodology]
For this comparison, I have used Tip Height (Antennas and spires included). While I personally value "Roof Height" as a more honest representation of a building's usable scale, I’ve chosen to follow CTBUH criteria to show the full vertical reach of these icons.
[Buildings Featured - Height Comparison]
Jeddah Tower: 1,000 m+ (Under Construction)
Willis Tower: 527 m | 1,729 ft (Tip)
875 N. Michigan Ave (Hancock): 457 m | 1,500 ft (Tip)
Trump International Hotel & Tower: 423 m | 1,389 ft (Tip)
St. Regis Chicago: 365 m | 1,198 ft
Aon Center: 346 m | 1,136 ft
Franklin Center: 307 m | 1,007 ft
Two Prudential Plaza: 303 m | 995 ft

The Illinois (Bonus): Frank Lloyd Wright's 1-mile vision.
