Most people think shooting a .50 BMG is just about the noise and the recoil. But for me—after 20 years in military medicine and serving with the 160th SOAR—it’s something else entirely. It’s therapy.
In this video, I take my single-shot Serbu .50 BMG (BFG-50) to the desert to show you not just what this beast can do, but how it feels. We’re talking about a chest-rattling boom that turns into a moment of absolute zen. I’ll also break down the full setup, including the AAC Cyclops suppressor that tames the beast and the Halo LR thermal optics.

Mission
This channel exists to help people stay armed, fed, medically capable, and mentally prepared when systems fail and responsibility cannot be outsourced.
Suburban Prepper focuses on real-world preparedness, gear, and self-reliance. Content includes emergency preparedness, Individual First Aid Kits, medical readiness, communications, grid-down planning, AR-15 platforms and defensive gear, prepper gardening, food production, freeze drying, logistics, and civil unrest risk assessment. Political topics are addressed when they directly affect preparedness, self-defense, constitutional rights, and personal liberty. This channel is firmly pro-First Amendment and pro-Second Amendment.
I am a U.S. Army paratrooper and former 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment flight medic, Desert Storm and Afghanistan Veteran who served with the 76th Infantry, Task Force Phoenix. I deployed overseas with both Active Duty and the National Guard, served on State Active Duty missions, and earned the Expert Field Medical Badge, Combat Medical Badge (Second Award), and Air Medal. I later progressed from combat medic to registered nurse to Nurse Practitioner, completed a postgraduate fellowship in Complementary and Alternative Medicine at George Washington University, and previously taught Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation as a volunteer instructor for the American Red Cross. That background provides pattern recognition under stress most people never develop.
