Wings on Wheels (WOW) is a mobile expressive therapy program, offered through BJC Hospice, that helps support children, teenagers, young adults, families, groups, and communities impacted by illness or loss.
Expressive therapy is the use of creative arts such as painting, drawing, writing, music, play therapy, sand tray play therapy, and dance to allow for expression of thoughts and feelings when someone is facing a serious illness or when a death has occurred.
Creative projects may also be facilitated to connect with the person who is ill or in remembrance of a significant loved one.
There is no charge for Wings on Wheels' services. The program relies on donations from the community to maintain this valuable resource in the St. Louis area. The WOW van goes wherever it is needed- family homes, schools, places of worship, and community groups- to connect with individuals and groups that desire support through grief and loss.
