Thimbleby Shooting Ground Case Study

Описание: Situated in an idyllic setting at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, the Thimbleby Estate provides a beautiful country escape for families and groups, with keen shooters from across the UK frequently using its rifle range facilities.


The Old Lodge had lasted well and yet was proving inadequate for its current footfall. Our client wanted to provide its varied customers with space where they could enjoy the shooting experience as well as high-quality food, all from within a relaxed, modern space.

With an extremely tight budget in place and limited time to complete the build, it was imperative to work closely with the client and architect from the outset and at every step of the project. We understood their requirement to install concrete raft foundations – as opposed to the piled foundations recommended by a Geotechnical engineer – to reduce the overall costs. From here, the team then worked upwards to create the full build providing all masonry work, installing a timber frame with exposed trusses, burnt larch cladding and a GreenCoat PLX standing seam metal roof to create a robust building that would withstand the elements.

The aluminium windows, automatic entrance doors and rear bi-fold doors helped to bring a modern finish to the building exterior, with all internal works – mechanical (including underfloor heating), electrical (lighting, alarms and security systems), plasterwork, joinery, wall tiling, flooring and decorating - completed to an exceptional standard. A new feature fireplace was the cherry on the cake.

External Works included drainage, levelling, building a retaining wall, installing a decking area and all landscaping.

When the client delivered changes mid-project, our team dealt with and incorporated each one extremely well. Working in challenging conditions, and while the centre remained opened to customers, the customer gave particular praise toward our ability with communications, project management and producing the build to an exceptional standard within a fixed budget.
