HOW CAN I BE SAVED?
Plan of Salvation:
Knowing Jesus Christ as Your Personal Saviour
1. Acknowledge That You Are a Sinner
The first step in knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour is recognizing that all have sinned and are in need of salvation. The Bible tells us that sin separates us from God.
Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
2. Understand That God Loves You
Despite our sin, God loves us deeply and has provided a way for us to be reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ.
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
3. Believe in Jesus Christ
Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ. We must believe that He is the Son of God who died for our sins, rose again, and ascended to heaven, conquering death. Jesus’ resurrection is proof of His victory over sin and death, and His ascension assures us that He reigns in heaven, interceding for us.
John 14:6: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”
Acts 16:31: “So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.’”
Acts 1:9-11: “Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.’”
4. Repent of Your Sins
Repentance means turning away from sin and turning toward God. It involves a change of heart and mind, acknowledging our sins and seeking God’s forgiveness.
Acts 3:19: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
5. Confess Jesus Christ as Lord
Confession is an outward expression of your inward faith. By confessing Jesus as Lord, you declare your commitment to Him and His authority over your life.
Romans 10:9-10: “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
6. Receive the Gift of Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God, not something we can earn by our own efforts. It is freely given to those who believe in Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
7. Live Out Your Faith
Once you have accepted Jesus as your Saviour, you are called to live a life that reflects your faith. This includes growing in your relationship with God, following His commandments, and sharing the Good News with others.
2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Conclusion
Knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour is the most important decision you will ever make. It is a journey that begins with acknowledging your need for Him, believing in His sacrifice for your sins, His resurrection, and His ascension into heaven. Once you accept Christ, you are transformed and called to live a life that honors Him. If you haven’t yet made this decision, now is the time. The Saviour is waiting with open arms, ready to welcome you into His family.
