Daedunsan stretches across Chungcheongnam-do and Jeollabuk-do.
It boasts a relatively expansive landscape with rocky cliffs, valleys, waterfalls, and cultural attractions such as temples. Daedunsan is known for its rugged rock formations adorned with lush greenery, providing stunning vistas. Its highest peak, Machendae, meaning 'touching the sky,' was named by the monk Wonhyo. From Machendae, you can see Daejeon to the north, Jinan-gun to the southeast, and Buan-gun to the west.
Climbing up to Nokjodae offers breathtaking views of both sunrise and sunset, making it a popular spot for hikers, particularly during the fall foliage season. The scenery is equally enchanting in spring with blooming flowers or in winter with snowfall, attracting photographers year-round.
With a cable car ride, it takes about an hour to reach the vicinity of the summit.
Due to its proximity to Daejeon, just an hour's drive away, Daedunsan is a favorite day-trip destination for locals and a must-visit for foreigners exploring Korea.
