During this short session, scholars Dr. Catherine Gudis (UCR), Dr. Jen Tilton (UofR), and Dr. Michelle Lorimer (CSUSB) will introduce atttendees to primary sources and materials from newly-developed digital projects. Shared sources from sites such as A People's History of the Inland Empire, Sweet and Sour Citrus, and professional development workshop Eastside Stories connect local history to important Framework-aligned national and international topics relevant in K-12 classrooms today.
We also discussed an exciting opportunity for teachers to develop curriculum in collaboration with workshop facilitators. We are looking for a handful of HSS teacher leaders who have experience developing curriculum and are interested in creating lessons over the next year (2022-2023) related to underrepresented histories of people and place in the broader Inland Empire.
